Le Lycée Anna de Noailles, ancien château du Martelay. Le château du Martelay, construit en 1890 par un particulier, avec quatre tours d’angle, n'est ni médiéval, ni Belle-Époque, mais plutôt néo-gothique ; il fait partie, depuis 1964, du lycée Anna de Noailles. Contrairement à la légende, ce château n'aurait jamais appartenu à Anna de Noailles qui en aurait fait don à la ville pour l'éducation des enfants. Un article du Matin de Paris du mercredi 17 mai 1944 en attribue la propriété à un anglais "prétendant de la couronne de France". Sous la plume de l'envoyé spécial du Matin à Evian, André du Bief : "EVIAN, mai. Cette vaste bâtisse de pierre grise aux quatre rondes tours d'angle, face au Leman paisible et aux lointains ensoleillés sur l'autre-rive de la pacifique Lausanne, c'est le château le Martelay où, m'avait-on dit, j'allais trouver M. John Freeman, sujet britannique, dont les prétentions à la couronne de France font quelque bruit. Hélas c'est en 1932 que M.Freeman quitta cette agréable demeure, l'ayant vendue, et il est présentement en Amérique, m'assure-t-on." C'est le maire Camille Blanc qui obtiendra la création d'un lycée mixte dans le site du château du Martelay au bord du lac. Le maire assassiné par l'OAS n'en verra pas la réalisation. Le lycée sera terminé en 1964 par son successeur Jean Combet. High School Anna de Noailles, a former castle Martelay. Le 31 mars 1961, Camille Blanc, Maire d’Evian, était assassiné par les commandos de l’OAS pour la simple raison que sa ville devait abriter les négociations en vue d’un accord de paix en Algérie. La proximité de Genève et la neutralité suisse permettaient aux délégués algériens une certaine sécurité pour leur participation aux pourparlers. "(…)Réveillé à 2h. 35 par l'explosion d'une première charge de plastic déposée sous son automobile, le maire, monsieur Camille Blanc, 49 ans, se précipitait au téléphone et était tué quelques seconds après par l'explosion d'une deuxième charge qui avait été posée sur la fenêtre du salon de l'Hôtel Beau-Rivage, dont il était propriétaire. (…) ". (AFP 31 mars 1961) Camille Blanc avait été élu pour la première fois maire d'Evian en 1945. Il sera réélu en 1947, 1953 et 1959. Les accords d'Evian seront signés le 18 mars 1962 entre la France et le Front de Libération Nationale (FLN) d'Algérie. Ils mettent fin à 8 ans de guerre.
