Châtillon-Coligny. Parallel to the boulevard de la République, this water was the moat doubling the city defense wall (the latter, now mostly transformed into houses, was here on the left). This water channel used to be the old Loing river bed ; it is now fed by a derivation from the canal, although the Loing river shares its bed with the canal while crossing the town.

Châtillon-Coligny, Loiret, France. Boulevard de la République, at the corner of the restaurant "Le Coligny". An arm of the Loing river, looking downstream as it's leeaving the moat that runs against what used to be the town defence wall (the moat is immediately upstream from this bridge, behind us).

Canal de Briare at Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, looking downstream from the bridge on the Faubourg du Puyrault road. This bridge is split lengthwise between Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois and Châtillon-Coligny : the camera here is on Châtillon-Coligny's side and so are the next 33 m of water and land. Beyond that, it's Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois again.

Canal de Briare at Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, looking upstream from the bridge on the Faubourg du Puyrault road. This bridge is split lengthwise between Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (on the right) and Châtillon-Coligny (on the left) : the camera here is on Châtillon-Coligny's side, but the portion of bridge seen here is part of Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois and so are the next 275 m of water, the houses on the right, and the field immediately on the left of the canal. Beyond that, it's Châtillon-Coligny again ahead and left.

House called « Maison de l'Enfer » (« Hell House »), in the rue du Paradis, Châtillon-Coligny, Loiret, France. Built in the 2nd half of the 16th century, it was used as a protestant temple during the religion wars until 1620 when Gaspard III de Coligny had a temple built at the crossroad between rue de l'Eglise and rue de Belle Croix (this latter temple was suppressed by ordnance in 1685). The maison de l'Enfer was the townhall from the Revolution until 1810. By opposition, the house called « Maison du Paradis » (« Paradise House », very close at nr 3 rue du Paradis) was the catholics' meeting place.
