2013-10-26 Est - SNCF telephone & telegraph lines along the old Paris - Belfort - ( Basel) magistrale "Ligne 4" France Line 4 in France is one of the last where old style telephone wires are along the tracks. Once so iconic for all railway lines in Europe and elsewere. Some insulators read EST, other SNCF, a few even SUD .... EST and Sud are from before 1938 when both companies were merged into the SNCF during the great nationalization of railways in France that year. Lijn 4 in Frankrijk is een van de laatste waar nog bovengrondse telefoonlijnen langs de baan staan. Eens zo beeld bepalend voor alle spoorlijnen in Europa. Op sommige isolatoren staat nog EST, andere SNCF, ik zie zelfs SUD ... . Est en Sud zijn van voor 1938 toen de beiden op gingen in de SNCF tijdens de grote nationalisatie. Est; Elle est l'une des six grandes compagnies des chemins de fer français nationalisées le 1er janvier 1938 pour former la Société nationale des chemins de fer français (SNCF) Bovengrondse lijnen zijn ook gevoelig voor andere storingen langs een spoorlijn. Zolang de spoorwegen gebruik maken van stoom-locomotieven is er niets aan de hand, maar dat verandert als delen van het traject elektrisch worden. De elektro-motoren van de locomotieven storen de telefoon- en telegraaf-verbindingen. Tegenover de voordelen van boven-grondse lijnen staan ook nadelen. De verbinding is zeer kwetsbaar.
