![View of the total devastation of a village with ruined buildings, identified in the original caption as Boiry Becquerelle. Before the war this was a thriving village of 300 inhabitants, on the road to Bapaume, to the south of Arras. It was completely destroyed by the Germans in 1917. The village, which can be traced back to the eleventh century, was rebuilt after the war. It is now once again an active community of some 200 inhabitants, a monument to the courage of people to rebuild their lives.
