On the heights of Pardies-Piétat, a small Bearn village near Pau, is the site of Notre-Dame de Piétat. It offers a breathtaking view of the Pyrenees and the Pays de Nay. Its 19th century chapel is built on the site of an apparition of the Virgin, in place of an older chapel destroyed during the Wars of Religion. It has been a place of pilgrimage since its foundation in the 17th century.
