Ayant adhéré à la Réforme, vers le milieu du 16e siècle, l'église devient un lieu de culte réformé. Elle est rendue aux Chevaliers de Malte dès l'application de l'Edit de Nantes (1598). Le temple protestant édifié entre temps, fut démoli en 1668 sur ordre de Louis XIV. Eglise restaurée en 1725 (redéfinition des proportions). Sous les deux contreforts du clocher, l'accès se fait en franchissant un large porche étayé par un pilier central. Le portail, en plein cintre, est surmonté de l'écusson royal et daté de 1725.
