Sunrise in Provence

The stars and Milky Way from my cottage in Provence. I had forgotten there were this many stars in the sky, but with no light or air pollution, it was incredible. A Flickr jpg can't do it justice, but on the original image, the more you zoom in, the more you see. (The line is a plane.) 36 Stars (52 in 2016)

Our last morning in Provence had sun briefly at sunrise, then quickly clouded over. However, it provided one great last shot from our cottage (with some oil paint processing). HSS! 94 Pretty as a Picture (116 pictures in 2016)

Staying in Provence meant reconnecting with nature, not always in desirable ways. When I arrived, I looked at the fields and thought "look at all the pretty little white flowers!" The next morning, while venturing out for picture taking, I discovered the my little white flowers were actually thousands and thousands of tiny snails. They climb the grasses to estivate (word of the day=spend a hot or dry period in a prolonged state of torpor or dormancy.) At least they were cooperative photography subjects! 73 - Invertebrate (116 pictures in 2016)

The second week of our vacation in France was spent in this lovely cottage about a mile outside Menerbes, a hilltop village in southern Provence. Less sightseeing and a lot more relaxing, but still some beautiful shots to share from this area.
